Job summary

UNC REX Healthcare is seeking a Surgical Technologist I for the Labor & Delivery unit in Raleigh, NC. You will support Cesarean sections, obstetric surgeries, and routine OR workflows, working under surgeon and RN supervision to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

The position emphasizes teamwork, quick decision-making in emergencies, and patient- and family-centered care in a fast-paced obstetric environment. Night shifts are included with full-time hours onsite.

Qualifications

• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Military Training in Surgical Technology.
• 0-3 years of professional experience in surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead surgical tech for scheduled and emergency Cesarean sections and obstetric surgeries.
• First assist surgeons during Cesarean deliveries.
• Prepare and manage surgical instruments and equipment with precision.
• Maintain sterile technique to protect patient safety and prevent infection.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure smooth OR workflow.
• Manage room turnovers, including stocking, cleaning, and prepping for next procedure.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and room turnovers, transport, monitoring, and RN coordination.
• Assist in OB PACU with patient transfer and equipment checks.
