Job summary

UNC Health Rex Labor & Delivery seeks a Surgical Technologist I to support Cesarean sections and obstetric procedures in a high-acuity OB unit in Raleigh, NC. The role emphasizes sterile technique, rapid room turnovers, and collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.

This full-time, night-shift position offers mentorship for trainees, a focus on maternal and newborn safety, and opportunities to contribute to a state-of-the-art labor and delivery environment at UNC Rex.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or military training in Surgical Technology; or 3+ years prior experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead surgical tech for scheduled and emergency Cesarean sections and obstetric surgeries.
• Assist surgeons during Cesarean deliveries as first assist.
• Prepare and manage surgical instruments and equipment with precision.
• Maintain sterile technique to protect patient safety and prevent infection.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure smooth OR workflow and swift room turnovers.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and OB PACU transfers and monitoring.
