Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Labor & Delivery Technician to support the perioperative team in our Labor & Delivery suite. The role involves assisting with instruments and supplies, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring a safe, efficient surgical workflow under supervision.

Candidates should have a Scrub Technician/Surgical Technologist program background, CST certification, and BLS. Prior OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a certified Scrub Technician/Surgical Technologist program.
• Current CST certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• 2-3 years of operating room experience preferred.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team in the scrub role during Labor & Delivery procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention throughout procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the surgical suite, PACU, and labor rooms between procedures.
• Process and organize surgical instruments and supplies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow.
• Respond to emergencies as a team member under supervision and report safety concerns.
