Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor-Delivery-Postpartum in an inpatient setting. This full-time position emphasizes evidence-based nursing care, patient education, and collaborative practice with physicians and the care team.

The RN will assess patients, develop and update plans of care, administer medications, and participate in discharge planning. Strong interpersonal skills and adherence to safety standards are required.

Qualifications

BSN required; ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years of starting
Active Illinois RN license and BLS certification
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and analytic abilities

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive patient assessment using nursing process and age-specific considerations
Identifies educational needs of patient and family; plans and delivers education accordingly
Develops and updates individualized care plans with input from the interdisciplinary team and patient/family
Communicates effectively with physicians and care team; documents observations and responses
Manages patient safety, administers medications, and provides pain management and comfort
Participates in discharge planning, patient teaching, and timely referrals
