Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery on a per diem basis. The role emphasizes high‑quality patient care, teamwork, and leadership support for quality improvement initiatives.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care while maintaining accurate records and ensuring patient safety. Successful candidates hold a nursing degree (Diploma/ASN/BSN) with BLS/ACLS, and preferred L&D experience.

Qualifications

• Effective verbal and written communication with patients and team members.
• Physical ability to perform nursing duties in a high‑demand unit.
• Basic computer proficiency for EHR documentation and data entry.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation and education.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow BMCHS nursing guidelines and policies.
• Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.

Position: Registered Nurse

Location: Labor & Delivery

Schedule: Per Diem

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

• Deliver exceptional nursing care in the, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMCHS nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support(ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification
• Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Intermediate or Advance Certification

Experience

• 2 years' experience Labor and Delivery
• Experience with electronic health record preferred

Knowledge And Skills

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Fluency in another language a plus.

Compensation Range

$39.80- $93.69

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
