Lab Technician (Finance)

POSITION SUMMARY

Amphenol Network Solutions is seeking a Lab Technician to support our high growth Optics business at the Morrisville, NC location. The ideal candidate will possess a high attention to detail and organizational skills to manage lab materials and equipment, as well as to prepare, execute, and collect data from optical tests. This role requires minimal supervision and guidance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Organize and set up optical passive product library and supplies.
2. Support splicing and testing activities.
3. Assist with customer technical requests and new sales opportunities.
4. Support engineering/testing activities.
5. Participate in quality, supplier, and new product release activities.
6. Organize lab, display room, and storage area.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

An associate degree in a technical field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education. Candidates should have 1-5 years of technical support experience in a development lab or test environment. Proven organizational skills and attention to detail are highly valued. Experience with fiber cleaving, inspection, and splicing is preferred, along with familiarity with fiber optic components and optical test equipment. Technical writing skills are advantageous.

LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE SKILLS

The Lab Technician will collaborate with optical engineers and should be comfortable with technical jargon. Clear and concise communication is essential, along with the ability to ask questions to ensure understanding, minimize mistakes, and reduce wasted time. Ability to work effectively in close proximity to colleagues is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email is required. Ability to learn new systems such as Epicor MRP, Teams, Engineering Tools, Dayforce, and Teamwork is expected.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and move 50 lbs occasionally. Activities include sitting, standing, extensive computer work, and lifting/moving boxes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role is based in a heated and air-conditioned lab/office. Travel is not anticipated. Physical activity involves computer work and lifting.
