Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center in St. Charles, MN is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant to perform phlebotomy, process waived lab tests, and manage specimens. You will document workflows in the LIS, handle patient coordination, and assist with training in a on-site clinical lab setting.

Qualified applicants have phlebotomy skills, basic lab experience, and a current BLS certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days. Competitive benefits apply for 0.5 FTE or higher positions.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Medical terminology preferred
• Minimum Qualifications: Previous laboratory experience preferred
• Minimum Qualifications: BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy collection techniques and patient management including venipuncture and capillary puncture
• Performs waived laboratory testing for immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology as applicable
• Documents patient specimen flow in Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Processes specimens for dispatch to external labs as needed
• Maintains a safe work environment and adheres to standard precautions
• Assists with new employee orientation and training
• Performs other duties as requested
