Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant - Phlebotomy to join the clinical laboratory team. This 0.7 FTE shift pattern offers rotating night shifts and competitive benefits.

The role performs phlebotomy, waived tests, specimen processing, and LIS documentation while ensuring patient safety and accurate order management. Prior phlebotomy experience and BLS within 90 days are preferred. Starting pay range and benefits apply.

0.7 FTE - 7 on and 7 off rotating night shifts

Starting Pay - $20.57 - $30.86 (Based on Experience)

Offers for external candidates are generally made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy collection techniques and patient management, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and (as applies) arterial puncture and therapeutic phlebotomy.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient preparation and specimen collection techniques for throat culture, urine, and other requested specimens.
• Demonstrates proficiency in waived level testing for immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology (as applies).
• Demonstrates proficiency in documenting patient specimen flow in Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Processes specimens according to requirements, including preparation of specimens for dispatch to external labs as needed.
• Maintains a safe work environment and complies with standards for safe practice and standard precautions.
• Assists with new employee orientation and training.
• Performs other duties as requested.
