Job summary

Northwestern Medicine's Oakbrook Cancer Center is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant II for full-time days. This role collaborates with lab staff to ensure accurate specimen processing, data entry, and timely test reporting.

Requirements include a High School Diploma and at least 1 year in a lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy. Preferred phlebotomy certification; comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a general lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy area.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the main lab staff and other departments to ensure excellent patient care.
• Receives specimens into the laboratory information system.
• Inputs and retrieves lab results in the appropriate system.
• Properly processes specimens for transport to reference laboratories.
• Distributes specimens to the correct testing area.
• Verifies the accuracy of instruments and test kits; performs quality control.
• Operates and maintains laboratory automation systems as appropriate.
• Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens and reports results to providers.
• Performs waived and/or moderate complexity testing under direction.
• Coordinates courier pickups as needed.
