Job summary

UMMC's Lab Clinics is seeking a Supervisor- Medical Lab in Adult Hematology at the Main Campus Jackson location. The role provides technical leadership, ensures efficient laboratory operations, and serves as a resource for external labs while coordinating with Lab Director and medical director.

The supervisor will oversee quality control programs, participate in performance improvement initiatives, and maintain up-to-date SOPs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or Medical Technology with four years of related experience.
Active credentials with one of the following organizations (AAB, AMT, NCA, ISCLT, ASCP, ASHI, NCLA).
Knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

Assists manager in implementing effective quality control and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Participates in performance improvement and test utilization initiatives; ensures performance levels during testing.
Supervises all job duties for outside laboratories and internal labs.
Develops plans for validation of all processes and verifies precision/accuracy of test procedures.
Maintains current SOPs and policies in UMMC's document center; supports inspections and compliance.
Interviews and hires new personnel; conducts annual performance evaluations and provides staff development.
