Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center seeks a Lab Technical Coordinator to oversee Hematology operations, teach staff, and perform clinical lab tests with independent judgment. Emphasis on quality patient care, scheduling, productivity monitoring and project execution within the department.

The role requires a science-based bachelor's degree and preferred national certification, with responsibilities spanning policy development, staffing, training, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science-based field required.
• National certification preferred (ASCP or AMT).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, develops and implements new technical procedures for Hematology to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services.
• Collaborates with Medical Director to develop policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with licensing and accrediting agencies.
• Manages staffing requirements, assists with interviewing and performance evaluations, and supports budgetary/resource planning.
• Oversees orientation, training, competency and continuing education for department personnel.
• Provides input on space/equipment needs, budgets and other resources for the department.
• Develops training programs and continuing education opportunities.
• Investigates trends related to QC or patient results.
• Serves as a Hematology resource for questions across services.
• Maintains active involvement in related professional organizations.
