Job summary

SRMC Summersville Regional Medical Center in Summersville, West Virginia, is seeking a detail‑oriented laboratory support specialist to process orders, communicate with physicians and labs, and help manage specimen flows. You will train new associates, coordinate stat/now collections, and ensure timely reporting.

This role requires strong computer skills, familiarity with LIS/HIS, reading and interpreting medical terminology, and the ability to work under pressure in a busy hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Process and order patient/physician orders per procedure manual.
• Answer telephone in a friendly voice and route calls as needed.
• Communicate with satellite labs and drawing stations for orders and specimen requirements.
• Train and guide new associates of the laboratory.
• Direct phlebotomy team for STAT/now collections.
• Operate HIS and LIS computer systems per the manual.
• Prepare, sort and deliver patient reports to physician offices.
