Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Previous exposure or experience in a scientific and/or laboratory setting preferred.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of patient care requirements for all age groups as required by SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and blood collections using established laboratory guidelines to obtain acceptable specimens.
• Follows SOPs to process all specimen types and produce accurate results.
• Operates laboratory equipment (centrifuges, timers, computer system, tube transport system).
• Restocks supplies for the work area to assist co-workers.
• Logs in and stores specimens for later processing or reference.
• Prepares specimens and requisitions for shipment to reference laboratories.
• Prepares and delivers specimens to laboratories in a timely manner.
• Collects blood and urine specimens from patients per SOPs, regardless of diagnosis or age.
• Verifies patient specimens are properly identified and labeled.
