Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of clinical or anatomical laboratory functions, medical terminology or science background.
• Ability to provide own transportation while on duty required.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Organized, able to prioritize, fast-paced environment, and strong problem solving skills.
• Customer-focused, service oriented, and able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of growth and development across lifespan and ability to assess patient data.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer interactions with a courteous, service-oriented approach.
• Distribute lab results to ordering physicians and transmit requested fax results.
• Prepare specimens for reference labs and manage reference lab software.
• Answer phones and direct questions to proper department.
• Register specimens accurately and ensure complete information and current insurance details.
• Enter outreach specimen orders and ensure correct testing and labeling.
• Maintain competency and pursue continuing education as needed.
• Maintain organization and prioritize daily tasks for quick responses.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE; comply with BVHS safety standards.
• Maintain punctual attendance and adhere to attendance policy.
