Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a laboratory professional to perform a full range of lab tests, ensure quality control, and process specimens. The role includes evaluating new techniques and assisting in training other personnel on equipment and software.

Required education includes an associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science, with licensure/certification (MLT) or eligibility. Experience in BB, Flow, and Micro areas is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year experience as laboratory scientist for specialty areas (BB, Flow, and Micro). Clinical internships of 12 months duration meet this requirement.
• Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests and communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field.
• Ability to follow written protocols.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform all laboratory procedures, including quality control, specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting of lab results.
• Assist in the evaluation of new or modified techniques when required.
• Advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software as necessary.
