Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform analytical evaluation of blood and body fluids, maintain quality control, and report results. The role includes processing specimens, troubleshooting instrumentation, and participating in QA programs.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School diploma and a Baccalaureate in medical technology or related field, with ASCP/AMT MT certification and CMP/CCP participation as applicable. Relocation or travel is not specified.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related science required; NAACLS MT program preferred.
• One year experience as laboratory tech preferred; clinical internships of 12 months acceptable.
• ASCP or AMT MT certification required or in transition; CMP/CCP participation applicable for certain certifications.
• Must know medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests and understand instrumentation for QC and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical evaluation of blood and body fluids and all laboratory procedures including quality control, specimen processing, analysis, and reporting of results.
• Advise and assist in orientation and training of personnel on equipment and software.
• Evaluate new/modified techniques as required and participate in Certification Maintenance Program (CMP/CCP) for cert holders.
• Communicate clearly with medical staff regarding procedures and results and maintain department quality assurance.
