Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to perform complex testing from specimen processing to reporting results, with emphasis on quality and reliability.

You’ll evaluate new techniques, troubleshoot equipment, train students and staff, and support instrument implementations. You’ll also manage supplies, participate in process improvements, and ensure safety and patient-centered service across daily operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in medical technology or related field required.
• NAACLS MT program certification preferred.
• 1 year experience in laboratory science; 3 years for core sciences.
• Must hold ASCP or AMT Scientist certification.
• New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
• Flow cytometry certification path MDT/SCYM if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory testing and quality control.
• Maintain records and comply with regulations.
• Train students and new staff; support new instruments.
• Manage supplies and participate in process improvements.
• Provide technical support and collaborate with healthcare teams.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure patient-centered service.
