Job summary

Bronson Healthcare in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a MLS - Lab Point of Care role in the BMH core lab. The position performs diagnostic tests on patient specimens and supports POC testing across units. Ideal candidates are enrolled in or have completed NAACLS MLS/MT programs, with ASCP or AMT eligibility. Work hours are 1st shift; overtime and shift flexibility may occur to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Lab Science equivalent program for a bachelor’s degree… or completion of a NAACLS approved Medical Technology, MLS or Clinical Lab Science program with Bachelor’s degree.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology with completed certificate for program in Medical Technology or MLS that requires 90 semester credit hour plus internship.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry with internship and completed Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with ASCP/AMT eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and analytic testing on human specimens to produce reliable data.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and computer systems for documentation and QA.
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing and report results.
• Assist in training of new staff and students; participate in Lab Quality Program activities.
• may be required to alter start time/shift depending on patient care needs.
