Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLS to analyze and process biological specimens, maintain reagents, and ensure accurate results. This role includes instrument troubleshooting and potential phlebotomy backup, with strict adherence to safety policies.

The ideal candidate holds a MLS/MLS certification with ASCP or equivalent, plus strong organizational and communication skills to support a high-volume laboratory in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as MT/MLS with ASCP, NCA and/or HEW within 6 months of hire.
• Organizational skills needed to prioritize daily workload.
• Written and interpersonal skills to communicate successfully at all levels.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory instruments and troubleshooting abilities.
• Basic computer skills for patient information entry.
• Mandatory OSHA training completed annually.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and process biological specimens; organize workload and set up test procedures.
• Evaluate patient and quality control results; enter data into LIS and follow critical notification policy.
• Maintain inventory and reorder reagents; dispose of biohazards safely.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Act as backup to phlebotomy; may perform venipuncture or cultures as needed.
• Ensure safety and care for patients aged birth to 100+ years.
