Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Lab Operations Manager to oversee laboratory-wide operations, ensuring compliance, quality, and efficient processes across multiple sections. The role interacts with physician leadership to develop policies that enhance patient care and operational strength.

The Manager will lead critical lab sections, manage budgets, and drive performance improvements while maintaining high reliability and safety standards in a complex hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health or related field required.
• Registration Certification in clinical healthcare field required.
• Five years of healthcare experience.
• Three+ years of supervisory management experience.
• Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science degree preferred.
• MBA/MHA or equivalent preferred.
• Five+ years managing delivery of laboratory services across sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of Laboratory operations.
• Support medical and administrative leadership of all Laboratory Pathology sections.
• Oversee Blood Bank and Donor Center services and other lab sections as needed.
• Develop ambulatory and post-acute care policies and procedures for lab requirements.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, TJC, FDA, AABB, PA DOH, ISO 15189 and CLIA.
• Lead staff education to meet quality and performance goals.
• Prepare and manage department budgets and analyze productivity and costs.
• Drive quality improvement and change management across lab services.
