Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL. This PRN role covers weekend shifts and involves collecting and processing specimens, coordinating with nursing and physicians, and performing phlebotomy tasks.

The position requires at least 6 months of phlebotomy or laboratory-related experience and a High School diploma or related Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience. Driver's license is required to support patient transport as needed.

Responsibilities

• Collect inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens

• Interact with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Perform phlebotomy procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Weekend Work: Every Weekend - Must Be Available to work: Friday 11:00am-7:30pm, Saturday 7:00am-2:00pm & Sunday 7:00am-2:00pm ≈ 22 hours/week

Responsibilities

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience

• Required
• 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education

• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials

• Driver's License

Credential Equivalent Experience
