Job summary

BayCare Health System's Outreach Lab Winter Haven in Florida is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II to support specimen collection and processing for inpatient and outpatient tests. The role requires phlebotomy skills, coordination with nursing and physicians, and routine interaction with laboratories.

Position is PRN with shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; located in Winter Haven, FL. A minimum of 6 months phlebotomy or related lab experience is required, with HS diploma or FAA/related bachelor’s

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory-related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; or a related bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive, and process inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories as needed.
• Interact with physicians, clients, and staff regarding referral tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience

• Required - 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education

• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials

• Driver's License

Credential equivalent experience

• Preferred Phlebotomy
