Job summary

BayCare Health System in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II at St. Anthony's Hospital to collect, receive, and process patient specimens for testing.

You will work with nursing staff on specimens and coordinate with physicians and outside labs. Phlebotomy duties are a core component. Required is at least 6 months of phlebotomy or laboratory-related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; a related bachelor's degree can substitute for experience.

Qualifications

• 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory-related experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent; or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests.
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
