Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II for the St. Josephs North Hospital/ Lutz, FL area. This role collects and processes specimens, coordinates with nursing and physicians, and supports referral testing in a busy hospital laboratory.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent with 6 months phlebotomy or lab-related experience; a related bachelor’s degree can substitute. Driver’s license is needed for credentialing. Competitive benefits are offered.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a related bachelor’s degree can substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive and process inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories as needed.
• Interact with physicians, clients and staff about referral lab tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
