Job summary

BayCare Health System in Lutz, FL is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II to join our outreach lab team at St. Joseph North Hospital.

You will collect and process inpatient and outpatient specimens and assist with phlebotomy under the supervision of pathologists and nursing staff. The ideal candidate has at least 6 months of phlebotomy or related laboratory experience, a high school diploma or equivalent (or a related bachelor’s degree), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent; or a Bachelor's in a related field in lieu of experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests.
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
