Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) to support Northwest Clinics, including Elk River, Andover, and Rogers. The role involves phlebotomy, specimen handling, LIS/HIS data entry, and coordinating tests across sites.

The position requires adherence to SOPs and exceptional attention to patient safety. Shifts are 8 hours, with some Saturdays at Urgent Care locations approximately every 5th week, and occasional floating to nearby clinics to meet staffing needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program.
• Three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience or enrollment in MLT/MLS with phlebotomy course.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Successful customer service background in diverse settings.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Independent judgment and manual dexterity.
• BLS certification within 90 days if working in clinic setting.

Responsibilities

• Obtain biological specimens following SOPs.
• Perform phlebotomy at multiple sites and communicate handling needs.
• Enter orders into LIS/HIS accurately and monitor logs.
• Schedule tests/procedures and provide results by LIS/HIS or phone.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and equipment through daily QC and maintenance.
• Mentor others and adapt to staff needs while prioritizing patient outcomes.
