Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in the medical field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience preferred
• Ability to receive and track patient samples into the LIS
• Ability to maintain specimen integrity for all laboratory testing

Responsibilities

• Notify departments of problem resolutions for specimen discrepancies
• Follow safety procedures to reduce exposure risk
• Retrieve samples and deliver to testing departments
• Maintain inventory and log items with expiration dates
• Answer phone calls and escalate issues to leadership
• Support daily sample pending review and batch testing
• Perform daily checks on lab systems and water/DI systems
• Provide proficiency testing support and paperwork
• Perform QC verification of pipettes, timers and equipment
• Sort and load samples onto lab automation systems
• Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency
• Monitor reagent inventories and reorder levels
• Collaborate with supervisor and lab staff on goals
• Promote a positive team environment
• Perform additional duties as directed
• Communicate with external customers on issues
