Job summary

Providence is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience to perform clinically approved tests and handle specimen processing. The role requires using HIS/LIS systems, registering samples, and maintaining daily documentation.

The candidate should have Washington state certification and at least 1 year of related experience; preferred WA-certified training is a plus. Providence emphasizes patient-focused care and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Washington state certification required at hire.
• 1 year experience as Medical Assistant or Laboratory Assistant performing phlebotomy and CLIA waived testing in a clinical setting.
• Preferred: WA State approved Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training program.

Responsibilities

• Reception and Telephone duties in a clinical lab.
• Operate laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems.
• Handle and process specimens and ship to reference laboratories.
• Perform Waived CLIA testing (Influenza, RSV, Strep A, urine HCG, MONO, WBC, Hb, CMP, INR, UA, IFOB).
• Document quality control on analyzers (Piccolo, HemoCue, Urocheck).
• Register, order, and obtain patient samples per physician orders.
• Phlebotomy: collect blood samples (skin puncture and venipuncture).
• Therapeutic blood collection and bone marrow procedures as needed.
• Order and distribute supplies; work varying shifts.
