Job summary

PeaceHealth in Washington is seeking a Part Time Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist (0.50 FTE) for day shift. The role supports patient care by drawing blood, preparing specimens, and operating LIS systems under standard procedures.

You will collect, label, and process specimens, perform waived tests, and coordinate with the lab team to ensure accurate results. WA state license/certifications are required or pursued within timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
• Prior clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
• Ability to interact with patients and health care professionals under stressful conditions.
• Ability to work autonomously but consult supervisory personnel when needed.
• Ability to use the LIS and follow established policies/procedures.
• Ability to recognize service levels and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• May perform phlebotomy and specimen collection/handling.
• Support patients with information and direction using laboratory services.
• Assist lab staff with patient care and delivery of lab results and reports.
• Perform data entry of patient demographics and tests ordered.
• Handle and process specimens and paperwork per guidelines.
• Perform waived testing as assigned and recognize abnormal results.
