Job summary

AdventHealth in Riverview, FL is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to support specimen processing, phlebotomy, and routine lab duties in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with specimen collection, processing, and reporting, while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Working PRN with day shifts, you will collaborate with clinical staff, follow the Chemical Hygiene plan, and participate in performance improvement initiatives to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Qualifications

• Technical skills related to laboratory procedures performed in the department.
• Able to communicate effectively in English with patients, staff, and customers.
• Ability to read text and numbers in English and apply judgment under supervision.
• Ability to learn and apply computer-related applications and programs.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
• May clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
• Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
