Job summary

Patient First is seeking a Lab Technician to provide quick and accurate laboratory results across centers in the Maryland area. The role requires knowledge of waived testing, specimen handling, and coordination with nurses and physicians.

Ideal candidates will multitask efficiently, operate and maintain lab equipment, and comply with safety and quality control standards. Occasional cross-center coverage may be required to meet staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory principles, concepts and methodologies sufficient to perform waived testing.
• Ability to produce rapid, reliable laboratory results during high volume periods.
• Proficiency in using and maintaining laboratory instrumentation.
• Willingness to work at any center as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and rapid lab results with knowledge of analyses, procedures, equipment, and safety.
• Follow procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing, reporting and record maintenance.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document QC activities under supervision.
• Electronic ordering of lab, x-ray and medical supplies as directed.
• Notify nurse/physician when patient is ready for exam and relay lab/x-ray questions.
• Maintain safety policies per OSHA and lab guidelines.
