Job summary

Patient First seeks a Lab Technician to provide rapid, quality lab results across centers. You will support patient care with venipuncture, specimen handling, and timely reporting in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include following procedures, maintaining safety and quality controls, and facilitating supply orders. The role requires standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to cover multiple centers as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school graduate with laboratory principles knowledge for waived testing.
• Ability to produce rapid, reliable lab results during high volume.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and take initiative.
• Knowledge to use and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
• Proficiency in venipuncture, finger sticks, and drug screens.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods, lift 20–50 pounds.
• Willingness to work at any center as needed.

Responsibilities

• Providing quality and rapid lab results with proper procedures and safety.
• Following specimen collection, handling, processing, and reporting protocols.
• Adhering to quality control policies and documenting activities under the lab on duty.
• Electronically ordering lab supplies as directed.
• Notifying Nurse/Physician when patient is ready for exam and communicating needs.
• Adhering to corrective action policies when test systems are out of spec and documenting actions.
• Troubleshooting problems affecting test performance or reporting and notifying appropriate staff.
• Receiving and distributing lab supplies as needed.
• Adhering to safety policies per Patient First and OSHA.
• Assisting Nurses and Physicians with patient care and requests.
• Fostering teamwork and maintaining a positive, professional atmosphere.
• Providing warm, friendly service in all interactions.
• Understanding and performing all duties as assigned.
