Work Schedule :

100% FTE, day shift. You will work at UW Health 1102 S Park Street Clinic in Madison, WI. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lab Assistant to:

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform kit testing, and handle associated instrument maintenance (temperatures, reagent monitoring) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).
  • Manage patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing personnel, and patients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training program with clinical rotation.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing experience required.
  • 1 year of phlebotomy and processing experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Phlebotomist certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification or equivalent preferred.
