Job description

Work Schedule

80% FTE, float position, day shift. 8-hour shifts on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with start times between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Hours may vary based on departmental needs. Position involves floating to clinics in Madison, WI.

Pay

External hires may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 (pro-rated based on FTE).

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lab Assistant - Float to:

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper identification and specimen labeling.
  • Complete specimen receiving and processing, load samples onto instruments, perform kit testing, and maintain instruments (monitor temperatures, reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).
  • Assist with patient check-in and enter laboratory test orders in the laboratory information system.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing personnel, and patients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training program with clinical rotation.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience required.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Phlebotomist certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification preferred.
