Job summary

Paycom in Sweetwater, TX is seeking a Laboratory Assistant under general supervision to perform routine lab procedures across phlebotomy, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and hematology.

Candidates with high school diploma or equivalent, certification as laboratory assistant preferred but not required, and experience as phlebotomist with neonates/pediatrics/adults/geriatrics are a plus; strong medical terminology and excellent verbal/written skills are needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory procedures in phlebotomy, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and hematology.
• Operates under general supervision and adheres to CLIA 493 subpart M personnel qualifications.
• Maintains accurate, organized, and timely clerical records and communicates results as needed.

Job description

Under the general supervision of the laboratory director, the laboratory assistant performs certain laboratory procedures in phlebotomy, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and hematology. These procedures exclude any which are performed only by licensed personnel under the state or national licensure regulations.Prefer high school graduate or equivalent. Certification as a laboratory assistant preferred by NOT required. experience as a phlebotomist/ drawing neonates, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics a plus. Needs to have moderate knowledge of medical terminology, and excellent verbal, written and clerical skills. Qualifications in accordance with Federal Register (CLIA 88) part 493, subpart M, Personnel Qualifications.
