THE NOLAN COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT in Sweetwater, TX is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to perform various laboratory procedures under supervision. The role requires strong phlebotomy skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Salary Range: $14.00 - $22.76 Hourly

Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor, Laboratory Director, Chief Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technician.

Primary Function

Under the general supervision of the supervisor, the laboratory assistant performs certain laboratory procedures in phlebotomy, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology, Microbiology and Hematology. These procedures exclude any which are performed only by licensed personnel under state or national license regulations.

Qualifications

Prefer a high school graduate or equivalent. Certification as a laboratory assistant preferred. Experience as a phlebotomist; drawing neonates, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics a plus. Need to have moderate knowledge of medical terminology, and excellent verbal, written and communication skills. Qualifies in accordance with Federal Register (CLIA 88) part 493, subpart M, Personnel Qualifications.
