Job summary

Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, OH, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team on a full-time 2pm-10:30pm shift. The role collects, accession, and processes specimens for testing, ensures orders contain patient information for billing, and registers patient orders.

It also includes phlebotomy, clerical duties, inventory maintenance, and potential Point of Care testing. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy training or hospital venipuncture

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an approved Phlebotomy School/Program, or 1+ years’ hospital venipuncture experience.
• Experience in phlebotomy preferred.
• CPR certification required within 4 months of employment and current thereafter

Responsibilities

Makes certain that orders are complete and authorized and contain patient information needed for billing purposes. Registers patient orders. Performs therapeutic phlebotomies. Performs general office/clerical responsibilities and phlebotomy. Maintain inventory supply. Option to perform Point of Care tests

Requirements Include

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an approved Phlebotomy School/Program, or 1+ years’ experience performing venipunctures in a hospital setting
• Experience in phlebotomy preferred.
• CPR certification required within 4 months of employment and must be current at all times thereafter
