Job summary

Onslow Memorial Hospital is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform blood draws and bedside testing in the Emergency Department. The role includes processing specimens, assisting with patient registration, and maintaining quality assurance documentation.

The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy training, BCH certification, and prior hospital laboratorio experience; high school diploma required. This position supports a fast-paced ED environment and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.
• Current BLS certification.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy procedures including blood draws for neonate to geriatric patients and blood cultures.
• Perform bedside glucose testing and waived or moderate- complexity Point of Care testing in the Emergency Department.
• Assist in clerical duties: patient registration, specimen processing, and quality assurance documentation as needed.

Responsible for phlebotomy procedures to include bleeding time test, blood cultures, obtaining blood samples from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performing glucose testing at the bedside; and performing waived or moderate complexity Point of Care testing at the bedside for patients in the Emergency Department. Also assists in clerical duties of the department; including patient registration, specimen processing, and quality assurance documentation as needed.Education/Certification:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.Current BLS certification.Experience:Previous laboratory experience (in a hospital setting preferred).
