Job summary

Labcorp in Portland, OR is seeking a Lab Assistant on the 3rd shift to support specimen handling, testing preparation, and data entry in a fast-paced clinical laboratory.

You will work with standard operating procedures, maintain a clean work environment, and collaborate with a team to ensure accurate results and timely turnaround. High school diploma or GED required; healthcare or lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and enter specimen and patient data.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and perform minor maintenance.
• Troubleshoot specimen related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Complete record logs and administrative duties as requested.
• Follow SOPs to ensure safety and quality.

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Portland, OR.

Work Schedule: 3rd Shift

Job Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• 6 months e of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital
• 6 months of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
• 6 months of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience

Additional Job Standards

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
