Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Houston, TX. The role supports specimen handling, processing and data entry in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, with preferred experience in healthcare, labs, or production settings. We value accuracy, safety and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred (1 year).
  • Experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment (1 year).
  • Experience in a medical/clinical laboratory is preferred (1 year).
  • Ability to handle biological specimens and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.

Labcorp is seeking aLab Assistantto join our team in Houston, TX.

Schedule

1st Shift, Sunday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm and overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive and sort clinical labspecimens
  • Preparespecimens for testing and analysis
  • Scan and/or data entry ofspecimenand patient information
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
PreferredQualification:
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • 1 year ormore ofexperiencein the healthcare industry, such as a physician’s office,clinic or hospital
  • 1 yearof experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
  • 1 year or more ofexperiencein amedical/clinical laboratory experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortability with handling biologicalspecimens
  • Ability to accurately identifyspecimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
