Job summary

Labcorp in Portland, OR is seeking a Technician to join the Microbiology team. Schedule: Mon-Fri, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM with rotating weekends, location at 4400 NE Halsey Street.

You will perform routine and complex tests, ensure instrument uptime, and maintain quality control while supporting patient care. The role requires an Associates degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology and 1 year of lab testing experience or an MLS degree.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR MLS degree.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 1 yearor moreof clinical laboratory testing experience OR anMLS degree
Preferred Qualification:
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
