Job summary

SGS in Maine is seeking a Lab Analyst II to prepare and analyze samples with accuracy and precision according to SGS's analytical SOPs. The role works independently and with a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met.

The position requires an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a similar discipline, advanced English, math and computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Requires associate degree in chemistry or similar with 3–5 years of analytical chemistry experience (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science with 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• Advanced English language skills required.
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs frequently (required).

Responsibilities

• Performs analyses on routine and moderately complex samples according to SGS SOPs using department instrumentation and methodologies.
• Operates, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments/equipment.
• May assist with development/validation of analytical methods and SOPs for method development, transfer, and validation studies.
• Provides technical training and support to Analysts in data analysis.
• May assist with client inquiries and CAR responses and support marketing/sales/client questions.
