Job summary

SGS in Scarborough, ME is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician to prepare samples accurately according to SGS' analytical SOPs. The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to meet production targets while maintaining a safe laboratory environment.

Essential qualifications include a high school diploma and basic skills in mathematics and reasoning. An associates degree in a relevant field and experience in analytical chemistry laboratories is preferred. This role emphasizes adherence to safety and standard practices in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Associates degree in a chemistry or similar scientific discipline is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry laboratories is preferred.
  • Basic mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs.
  • Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments.
  • Assist with validation and MDL studies.
  • Maintain technical information to support laboratory functions.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.

Job Description

Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technicianto join theirteam! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions
  • After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
  • May assist with validation and MDL studies.
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (Required)
  • Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic (Required)
  • Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic (Required)
  • Computer Skills: Basic (Required)
