Jobtailor is seeking an L2 Systems Administrator / IT Support specialist in Washington, DC. The role covers Windows and Linux infrastructure, active directory, virtualization, backups, and security compliance.

You will work onsite at least three days per week with some remote capacity, handling complex incidents and documentation. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in system administration or L2 support, strong Windows Server and Linux skills, and familiarity with VMware/Hyper-V and SCCM/WDS.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in system administration or L2 support.
• Hands-on with Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
• Linux admin experience and command-line proficiency.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Strong network troubleshooting knowledge (TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with ITSM and ticketing systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive L2 technical support for a premier client.
• Maintain enterprise infrastructure across Windows and Linux environments.
• Manage server infrastructure and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Provide advanced desktop support while following security protocols.
• Administer Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Active Directory.
• Perform Linux system administration and scripting.
• Troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and networks.
• Support VMware vSphere and Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
• Perform backup and recovery operations with enterprise tools.
• Monitor performance and ensure security compliance.
• Resolve ITSM tickets and escalate when needed.
• Image and deploy systems using SCCM/WDS or similar tools.
• Manage asset lifecycles and inventory.
• Work onsite at least three days per week; some remote work.
• Occasionally work evenings or weekends during maintenance.
