Job summary

PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Group Manager to lead Kubernetes-based container platforms within the Technology organization. Location options include several US cities, including Denver.

The role shapes roadmap, architecture, and operational excellence for on‑prem and cloud hosting platforms. You will partner with engineering, security, and DevOps teams, driving developer usability, self‑service options, and scalable infrastructure adoption.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
10+ years in technology with extensive experience leading Container Platform Engineering teams, preferred
10+ years of expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, CI/CD tools, public cloud providers, and platform engineering domains preferred
Experience in Agile software development environments, preferably with developer platform products

Responsibilities

Strategy & Architecture: Define the roadmap for container platforms (Kubernetes) and container-as-a-service (CaaS) to support enterprise workloads.
Platform Leadership: Design, deploy, and manage highly available, secure, and scalable containerized infrastructure.
Technical Leadership: Overseeing product development, translate market requirements into technical specs for container runtime, security, and orchestration; ensure usability through APIs and documentation.
Customer & Market Insight: Represent customers, study industry trends, inform product development and adoption.
Performance Optimization: Oversee metrics to enhance performance, usability, and reliability of containerized workloads across environments.
Architecture & Design: Develop standards for container orchestration systems; CI/CD, microservices, observability, high availability, fault tolerance.
Security & Compliance: Enforce container security best practices, scan images, and meet enterprise standards.
Operational Excellence: Partner with DevOps, security, and networking to optimize pipelines and IaC.
Cost Optimization: Improve cluster efficiency and control on-prem/cloud expenses via orchestration.
