Job summary

Salvation Army Kroc Center in Memphis invites a part-time recreation associate to join our team. You will greet members, assist guests and colleagues, and handle check-ins and transactions using CCMS/RMS, while upholding a safe, family-friendly center.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 2–4 years in customer relations; certification in personal training or group fitness is a plus. Training and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of experience in customer relations.
• Certified Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor is preferred.
• Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to members, guests and colleagues.

This position is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides Excellent Customer Service and Experience to Members, Guests and Colleagues.
• Warmly greets all people that we come in contact with throughout the Kroc Center
• Looks for opportunities to be helpful to members, guests and colleagues
• Listens, and offers thoughtful solutions for members, guests and colleagues.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and organized environment throughout the building
• Answers incoming phone calls and addresses needs in a professional and kind manner
• Uphold Kroc Center policies to maintain and safe and family friendly environment
• Operates CCMS/RMS computer software for customer transactions in accordance to Salvation Army and member policies
• Handles cash transactions in an ethical manner
• Uses CCMS system to check-in members and guests,
• Attends department and center meetings and trainings

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
• Ability to demonstrate good physical condition and effort associated with walking, running, standing, and moderate-to-advanced weight lifting in a fitness center environment including the ability to meet the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs.
• Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent changes basis.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUEducation and Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• 2-4 years' experience in customer relations and leading fitness and/or recreational activities
• Certified Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor preferred

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

• Safe From Harm Certification
• Blood Borne Pathogens Certification
• Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aide/AED certification within first 30 days of employment.
