Job summary

Senior Lifestyle in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a talented Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations. You will prepare meals from standardized recipes, set up lines, and guide cooks to maintain quality and presentation.

You will train new staff, assist with scheduling and ordering, monitor inventory, ensure health code compliance, and lead by example to reduce waste while keeping stations clean and organized. A Serv Safe certification and 3+ years in a commercial kitchen are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen environment or a related certificate/degree.
• Serv Safe or other required local certifications.
• Organized with strong communication with coworkers and residents.
• Pride in quality and presentation of prepared food.
• Basic to advanced knowledge of cooking and meal preparation.
• Thorough understanding of food service techniques and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals from standardized recipes in accordance with orders, timely and attractively.
• Set up food service line and workstations with needed condiments.
• Ensure all required garnishes and condiments are prepared and served.
• Assist in coordinating prep for next day’s menu.
• Participate in pre-meal meetings with servers to review daily menu.
• Assist with training of new kitchen employees.
• Assist with scheduling of employees within the department.
• Assist with food ordering, inventory monitoring, and menu cycling.
• Keep stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean and rotated; label perishables.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and health department compliance.
• Minimize food waste through proper storage and recycling techniques.
• Manage and supervise Cooks, Lead Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Utility Workers.
