Job summary

The Dewberry in Charleston, SC is seeking a Steward to join the Culinary team. This full-time, non-management role supports dishwashing operations, restocking, and general kitchen cleaning, reporting to the Sous Chef in a fast-paced hotel setting.

Ideal candidates are capable of withstanding temperature changes, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods, contributing to a spotless kitchen and guest-ready dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to operate a commercial dishwasher.
• Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature change.
• Sufficient dexterity of hands in order to load and unload dishwasher.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dishwasher to properly clean dishes and the pot wash sink to clean all cooking utensils used in the kitchen, banquets, and restaurants.
• Restock all supplies.
• Attend to general kitchen cleaning duties, including cleaning and mopping of kitchen floors and removal of trash from the kitchen and storeroom.
• Ensure cleaning is performed to stay within compliance guidelines as outlined by DHEC.
• Put away food stock and dry goods.
• Perform other duties as requested, such as assisting with spills and guest requests.
