Job summary

Hotel Equities seeks a dependable Steward to join our team in Phoenix. The role focuses on keeping dishes, utensils, and kitchen spaces clean and sanitary while supporting daily kitchen operations and ensuring our culinary team has the necessary equipment and supplies for exceptional dining experiences.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, follow food safety standards, train new stewards as needed, and help maintain a positive, service-oriented atmosphere for both guests and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel kitchen, dishwashing, or food service environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning procedures, and food safety practices preferred.
• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment and use approved cleaning products.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and maintain productivity during busy service periods.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Clean, wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Safely operate commercial dishwashing machines and other kitchen cleaning equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen areas, including dishwashing stations, food preparation areas, storage spaces, and floors.
• Follow all applicable health department regulations, food safety guidelines, and company sanitation standards.
• Monitor dishwashing equipment and report maintenance or operational concerns to the appropriate department.
• Ensure kitchen associates have access to clean dishes, utensils, and equipment throughout service periods.
• Properly handle, store, and dispose of waste, recycling, and cleaning materials.
• Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen floors and work areas to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining kitchen supplies, cleaning products, and equipment.
• Support culinary associates with basic kitchen preparation and organization tasks as needed.
• Assist with training new stewards on cleaning procedures, sanitation practices, and equipment operation when assigned.
• Help verify that assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed according to established standards.
• Identify and promptly report potential safety hazards, sanitation concerns, or equipment issues.
• Maintain a professional, positive, and cooperative attitude when interacting with guests and associates.
• Follow all company, hotel brand, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
