Job description

Job Title: Kitchen Steward

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, china, silver, glassware, pots, pans, and work areas. They also replenish supplies with clean ware and perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, flatware, and glassware.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including dry storage and walk-in coolers.
• Empty kitchen trash receptacles and properly dispose of garbage.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks in the kitchen.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
• Break down all kitchen equipment for cleaning using approved chemicals.
• Comply with all department and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.
• Replenish supplies with clean ware.
• Perform all duties safely and carefully.
• Other duties as assigned.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities

In addition to the duties above, team members must:

• Attend required training sessions.
• Obtain and retain necessary licenses, including the Virginia Racing Commission License.
• Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Ensure minors are not allowed to gamble, loiter in gambling areas, drink alcohol, or purchase tobacco.
• Know and follow policies and laws related to their department and the property’s programs on problem gaming.
• Report any acts of wrongdoing.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED; must meet all knowledge, skills, and abilities; at least 18 years old.
• Ability to stand for more than 8 hours.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Virginia Racing Commission License and a valid driver’s license with at least three years of driving experience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. May need to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. Noise levels are moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for individuals with disabilities.
